“Step, Leap” Student Film seeking local talent


Storyline: In an alternate July of 1969 the Apollo 11 Mission has left Earth, Neil and Buzz landed on the moon, and their third crew member, Michael Collins, reports in that they’re having difficulties reattaching the module to the main spacecraft. Discussion of what to do goes all the way up to President Nixon. The action cuts back and forth between the astronauts on the moon and the NASA team on the ground. Options are limited, and the hard decision has to be made; will they be abandoned on the moon?

This exciting and ambitious local student short film is accepting submissions from local CT talent. Specifically looking for talent in the Fairfield County area. late 20s mid 30s, Caucasian male. Average/Fit build. 5’7″ to 5’11” must have very short, preferably buzzed haircut, or be willing to cut hair. Please note in submission if you are willing to cut your hair. Looking for an actor with a similar look to the real Buzz Aldrin (see reference photo attached) The Lunar Module Pilot of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Missions. Along with Commanding Officer Neil Armstrong, Aldrin descended to the lunar surface, winning the race to the moon, and potentially laying down his life in the process as well. Shoots 3/14 and 3/15 LEAD

late 20s to mid 30s, Caucasian male. Any height. Slim, average, or athletic build. Short or medium length dark hair. See attached photo for reference. The Command Module Pilot of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Missions. Collins remained in the Lunar Orbit, circling clear around the dark side of the moon, as Armstrong and Aldrin descended to the lunar surface. Should they be stranded, he will face the loneliest journey home in human history. Shoots 3/14 and 3/15 LEAD

early/mid 30s to early 40s, Caucasian male. Tall, average to fit build. Short to medium length brown or black hair. See attached photo for reference. Former astronaut and Commanding Officer at Mission Control during the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Missions. Shoots 4/4 and 4/5 SUPPORTING

30s to 40s, Caucasian male. Average to tall height wise. Thin to average build. Medium length brown hair, potentially receding or thinning. See attached photo for reference. President Nixon’s speechwriter at the time of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Mission. Safire wrote the “Moon Disaster” speech that Nixon would deliver in the event of abandoning Armstrong and Aldrin on the moon. Shoots 4/4 and 4/5 SUPPORTING

mid 20s to early 30s, Caucasian female. 5′ to 5’6″ slim to average build with short to medium length blonde or light brown hair that can be styled into a 60’s hairstyle. See reference photo attached. (Note: This will be a slightly younger version than shown in the photo) First wife of Buzz Aldrin, they were married and living together at the time of the Apollo 11 Lunar Landing Mission. This role will require expressive and emotive acting while she receive mission updates about her husband. Shoots 3/28, 4/4 and 4/5 SUPPORTING

20 to 40 years old, Caucasian female. Aide to President Nixon and his cabinet during the 1969-1973 term. Shoots 4/4 and 4/5 DAYPLAYER

25 to 45 years old, all ethnicities male. Federal Agents representing NASA. They travel to deliver news/briefings to the families of the astronauts in the Apollo Program. Shoots 3/28, 4/4, and 4/5 DAYPLAYER (We will be casting up to four actors in these roles)
