2nd Round of Auditions of My Gay Son’s Wedding by Jeffrey Kagan-McCann

Due to the snow storm and St. Patrick Parade on (3/21/15)  and low turn out! 

Pearwater Productions is pleased to announce second round of auditions for the Hartford Premiere of My Gay Son’s Wedding on April 1st, 2015 at Charter Oak Cultural Center, 14 Charter Oak Ave, Hartford, CT. PAID GIG. This is a wonderfully funny and critically acclaimed romantic-comedy by Hartford Playwright and Director Jeffrey Kagan-McCann.

My Gay Son’s Wedding takes a humorous look at Eric Callahan, a young, ambitious, uptight, gay Jewish-Catholic, lawyer from New Haven, Connecticut, who’s searching for the meaning of love, happiness and acceptance. The play begins when his boyfriend -Jason impulsively pops “The Question”. A reluctant Eric agrees, and wrestles with how to tell his family about his upcoming nuptials. Barraged with conflicting advice from family, friends and an ex-boyfriend who thinks otherwise, as the date grows closer Eric begins to feel overwhelmed by doubts and his commitment begins weigh on him, endangering his relationship. Will Eric and Jason get married?

Cold Reading – Sides from the Script will be provided at the auditions. Rehearsal Dates: May 4th through June 9th. – Performance Dates: June 10th through June 13th.

Character Breakdown:

ERIC (Late 20’s – Early 30’s): Sardonic, Neurotic, Jewish/Catholic – Lawyer (LEAD)

JASON (Late 20’s – Early 30’s): Warm, lovable, energetic, free spirited Painter (LEAD)

SYLVIA (50’s – Early 60’s): Eric’s Mother. Flamboyant, Sexy, Drama-Queen, Brassy, a Jewish Mother

RICHARD (Late 50’s – Late 60’s): Eric’s Father. Conservative, Distinguished, Clueless, Catholic

HEATHER (Early 20’s): Eric’s Stepmother. Not Bright, Sexy, Flashy, and youthful, former Exotic Dancer

CONNOR (Late 20’s – Early 30’s): Eric’s Ex-Boyfriend. Urbane, WASPy, pompous, Newspaper Writer

MAXINE (Early 40’s): Stern, TYPE A, Neurotic, Self-appointed Clairvoyant, Lesbian, and Wedding Consultant
