Newington Mainstage is delighted to announce the first in its series of Broadway Master Classes with Richard Vida’s Musical Theatre Audition Technique Workshop. A native of Newtington, Mr. Vida returns home to offer this fantastic opportunity to YOU!
In this workshop, participants through interactive exercises, improv and performance will be guided to identify their strengths and weaknesses, along with defining their self-perceptions including how they are perceived. This results in an enlightening new sense of self for both the actor and the “human being” needed to walk into that next audition or interview and get the job. Find the comic and dramatic opposites in the song or sides you are auditioning with, as well as, identifying your “money” moment that will wow the other side of the table and get you the callback and the gig. This class is geared for performers of all levels, from the beginner to the most experienced – emphasizing the skills that you can and will use in every aspect of your life. Skills that are necessary not only in the pursuit of winning an audition, for everything in life is an audition, but to learn to recognize and own your special characteristics that not only allow you to shine on the stage, but to star in your own life.
Richard has been a professional actor, teacher and producer on Broadway, National and International Tours, regional theatre, television and movies for the past thirty years. Some of his credits include the 25th Anniversary Production of LES MISERABLES (Thenardier), the First National Company of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE (George), the original Broadway production of LES MISERABLES (Montparnasse), BUSKER ALLEY with Tommy Tune (Busker), THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC (Senator Trifle), 42nd STREET, ANYTHING GOES, MY ONE AND ONLY and numerous commercials, industrials, corporate events, recordings, videos and global guest artist performances.
