On Friday, December 14th, FOCUS Teen Improv Club will offer a special Introductory Workshop Intensive from 4-7:00 p.m. at Crescendo Music Loft, 5 Old Post Road, Madison, CT. Students of this workshop are provided a foundation in improvisational acting work as established by the “mother of improvisational theatre”, Viola Spolin. This workshop is open to all students ages 12-18, and is only $25 for three hours of instruction. Contact email@example.com or call 203-314-3394 for registration or more information.
About the Instructor
Instructor Lara Morton has been teaching and directing educational theatre for 25 years, and is an expert at breaking young actors of amateurish performance habits, largely using improvisational training techniques.
About the Instruction
The instructional approaches of FOCUS Teen Improv applies equally to scripted acting. Benefits include (but are not limited to): thinking on your feet, making quick decisions, collaboration/teamwork, saying “Yes!” to unexpected situations “and” adding information to build a story. The focus is on process rather than outcome, facing fears/nerves, taking risks and responding confidently when new things are thrown at you.
