Goodspeed Kids Company Virtual Ensembles

Transform your home into your stage this fall with the Goodspeed Kids Company Virtual Ensembles! Our Virtual Ensembles provide opportunities for young performers to explore different styles of performance each week while strengthening their skills in acting, dance, or vocal performance. With a different theme each week, our instructors will bring new material to each class, allowing our ensembles to dive into five distinct musical themes by the end of the session. Check out our weekly themes below!

SESSION 1: September 14 – October 23

  • Week 1: The Jazz Age
  • Week 2: Rodgers & Hammerstein Then and Now
  • Week 3: Dance Musicals of the 70s
  • Week 4: At the Movies
  • Week 5: Imagining the Future
  • Week 6: Virtual Showcase Rehearsal
  • Virtual Showcase: Friday, Oct 23 at 6:30pm

DANCE ENSEMBLE

Dance Ensemble A (ages 7-12) |  Wednesdays, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Dance Ensemble B (ages 13-18) |  Wednesdays, 7:30pm – 8:30pm

Each week, the Virtual Dance Ensembles will study a prominent musical theatre choreographer based on that week’s theme and learn a combination inspired by that choreographer’s work. Our students will learn to embody a specific movement style, practice picking up choreography quickly, and improve their dance technique while collaborating with their peers over a virtual platform.

VOCAL ENSEMBLE

Vocal Ensemble A (ages 7-12)  |  Thursdays, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Vocal Ensemble B (ages 13-18)  |  Thursdays, 7:30pm – 8:30pm

The Virtual Vocal Ensembles will explore how musical stylings contribute to and amplify the stories of characters on stage in musical theatre. With a dual emphasis on vocal technique and stylistic coaching, Dr. Spencer Reese will help students develop their voices to suit a variety of musical genres.

ACTING ENSEMBLE

Acting Ensemble A (ages 7-12) |  Tuesdays, 6:30pm – 7:30pm
Acting Ensemble B (ages 13-18) |  Tuesdays, 7:30pm – 8:30pm

In our Virtual Acting Ensembles, students will have opportunities to try on a variety of characters and stretch their imaginations as actors. In addition to diving into each of our weekly themes, Acting Ensembles will also work with different forms such as monologues, one-on-one scenes, and group scene work.
