Call for Actors & Supporting Roles for The Comedy of Errors!
Performances: August 5 – 9, Guilford Green, Guilford
Shakesperience in collaboration with Shoreline Arts Alliance is seeking community actors and musicians for this summer’s Shakespeare on the Shoreline production of “The Comedy of Errors.”
All adult performers must commit to a minimum of 15 hours of rehearsal from the 8th – 31st of July, including 2 preview performances in Waterbury, and 2 tech rehearsals and 5 performances in August in Guilford. The roles are:
DUKE OF EPHESUS — (60+) An authority figure who takes pity on Egeon.
EGEON — (60+) Kindly father of twins who were separated as infants. Arrives in Ephesus, only to be arrested and sentenced to death.
EMILIA — (60+) The wise Abbess of Ephesus and long lost wife of Egeon.
Notes: Adult actors should prepare a one minute Shakespearean verse monologue and be prepared to read sides.
STREET MUSICIANS — 2 – 4 strolling musicians who play before, during and after the performance. Buskers in the streets of Epehesus. Looking for bands and local ensembles that have their own distinctive sound. Particularly interested in including percussion, flute, guitar. Soloists are also welcome to audition.
ENSEMBLE — (ages 11 – 15) 2 boys and 2 girls to play several featured roles, including the figures in a life-size Bavarian Clock.
NB: Shakesperience is also seeking lecturers for their Optical Delusions Talking Tour. Ideally, these are also the adult actors in the production. If interested, please include resume and/or qualifications in your cover letter.
