Chestnut Street Playhouse Presents: Chuch and State

CTCallboard Logo

Norwich, CT – Chestnut Street Playhouse presents the CT premiere of Jason Odell Williams’ Church & State, a snarky, smart, seriocomedy about guns, God, and politics. After a shooting at his children’s school, incumbent North Carolina republican senator and proud Christian, Charles Whitmore, is quoted three days before election day that he may not believe in God anymore. His very conservative, very religious wife, Sara; and his liberal, Jewish campaign manager, Alex, both scramble backstage trying to fix the damage he has done. What arises is a thought-provoking, smart, and even hilarious clash of opposing views and politics.

Walking the line between this hot-button topic, this play never fully takes sides, yet instead highlights the influence religion, money, and outside forces have in politics today.
