Center Stage Theatre artistic director Gary Scarpa has announced that auditions for “I Remember Mama” will take place on Saturday, February 9th between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

Scarpa, who will direct the production with his wife Francesca, said, “I Remember Mama is a heartwarming family play with many roles for adults, teens, and children.”

“I Remember Mama” is about an immigrant family from Norway that settles in San Francisco in the early 1900s. Mama, with sweetness and capability, sees her children through childhood, managing to educate them and to see one of her daughters begin her career as a writer. Mama’s sisters and uncle furnish a rich background for a great deal of comedy and a little incidental tragedy. The story is told by the eldest daughter who aspires to become a professional writer. The play touches on different events that all families have to deal with, including sibling rivalry, the reality of growing up, and the death of a beloved family members. I Remember Mama is sure to entertain young and old.

Candidates will be given sides from the script to read at the audition.
