Casting “Bakersfield Mist”

CTCallboard Logo

Drama Works Theatre Company, Stonington, Ct. is casting the comedy/drama “Bakersfield Mist” by Stephen Sachs. The story is based on an actual event. Maude has purchased a painting for a few bucks at a thrift store. After almost destroying it she is now convinced it is a long lost, undiscovered Jackson Pollock worth millions She requests an art expert to evaluate it and authenticate it. He arrives having no idea what he is about to discover. This is a hilarious and thought provoking play about what makes art and humans authentic. It’s about two Americas across a table with a painting between. A great work of theatre.

Maude Gutman-
A fifty something, hard swearing, hard drinking, no nonsense, loveable, divorced, unemployed bartender. She has a sharp wit and is not to be taken lightly. She is not as simple a person as Lionel might think.

Lionel Percy –
A fifties to sixty New York art critic. He enjoys a wide respect and reputation from the art world and his peers. Just ask him. He is an elitist snob with the attitude and manner required of one. There is however some humanity there somewhere.

Auditions are Thursday June 13th and Friday the 14th at 7:00 PM and Saturday the 15th at 10:00 AM at the theatre located downstairs at Quaimbaug Cove Professional Center at 107 Wilcox Road, (corner of Rt. 1 and Wilcox) Stonington, Connecticut. It is 5 minutes from downtown Mystic and 15 minutes from Westerly, R.I.

There is a ramp, set back, on the left side of the building. Go up the ramp, through the door and down the stairs. There is no elevator.
