Call for local child actors for Yale Rep’s A RAISIN IN THE SUN

Yale Repertory Theatre seeks a local (AEA or non-AEA) child actor to play TRAVIS for its 2019-2020 season production of A RAISIN IN THE SUN by Lorraine Hansberry, directed by Carl Cofield. Travis is the youngest member of the Younger family; he’s an African-American ten-year-old boy, living in Chicago in the 1950s.

Auditions will be held on Monday, September 9, 2019 in New Haven by appointment only. Children will be asked to prepare a short side for the audition.

Experience in production, drama classes, drama summer camp, or similar performing experience is preferred.

Dates of the production:

First Rehearsal: February 3, 2020

Technical Rehearsals: March 6-18

Previews: March 13-18

Opening Night: March 19

Closing Night: April 4

Rehearsals are held in New Haven Monday-Saturday after 2:00 PM. Rehearsals can accommodate school schedules but will require flexibility from families to miss school on some key dates in the production calendar. Compensation is included for children if cast.
