Auditions for Opera House Players’ November Show

Auditions for NOVEMBER Show
(Title to be announced June 1, 2017)

Children age 6 – 13 Saturday June 17 at 1 pm
Adults – Sunday, June 18 and Monday, June 19 at 7 pm

Callbacks –Wednesday June 21 at 7 pm

Performance Dates – November 10 – 26 (there are 12 performances for this show)

Rehearsals begin in September. Not all actors will be needed at every rehearsal.

Auditions will be held at Broad Brook Opera House, 107 Main Street, Broad Brook CT. Contact the director at with any questions.


* Children should prepare a specific song from the show to be announced June 1 and an additional 16 bars of a traditional Broadway song. Due to number of auditioners or timing, it is possible we may only get to hear one of the numbers but be prepared to do both.

* Adults should prepare 32 bars of a traditional Broadway song – nothing from the show please.

An accompanist will be provided by the theatre. No singing to tracks or a cappella singing please.


All roles are available.

Bring a headshot / resume if you have one.

Be prepared to do cold readings from the script and some dance / movement.

Please be prepared to outline possible rehearsal conflicts.

Must be available for the Callback date.

Girl – age 10 to 12, street-wise, spunky, friendly, big-voiced. A3 to G5. Actor must be willing to work with live dog.

Businessman – age 40 to 55, successful businessman with warm heart. Rich, stiff-collared, bullish. B3 – Gb5. Actor must be willing to shave head or wear bald cap.

SECRETARY – age 20 to 35, faithful assistant to Businessman. Poised, sweet, gentle. Bb3 to G5

MATRON – age 30 to 50, children’s overseer who hates children but is fond of liquor. Very disillusioned, bitter and cold. A3 to F5.

GIRLS – age 6 to 13, They are gritty, neglected, and vulnerable; yet, basically honest and potentially loveable.

BROTHER – age 25 to 45, Matron’s no good brother looking for a quick buck. A sleazy con man. B3 to G5

GIRLFRIEND – age 20 to 35, Brother’s girlfriend who is also out for a quick buck. Considered a floozy and a bimbo. B3 to G5

DJ – age 30 to 50, ultimate radio personality with nationwide reach who helps Girl. E4 to G5

PRESIDENT – age 40 to 60, President of the United States. Eb3 to F4

ENSEMBLE – age 20 to 50, includes servants, radio station singers, Cabinet Members, citizens of New York and additional ensemble as needed.
