The Connecticut Gilbert & Sullivan Society will be holding auditions on May 14th 7PM-9PM and May 19th 6PM-8PM for its October 2019 production of Thespis. Auditions will be held at Congregation Adath Israel, 8 Broad Street, Middletown, CT.
Those who are trying out for one of the principal roles in the show must audition; both singing something (preferably from a G&S show) and doing one or more readings. Remember to bring sheet music for our accompanist.
If you have sung/performed with us before, and are not trying out for one of the principal roles and would like to be in our chorus, you do not need to audition.
But please send an email to John Freedman (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you are planning to join our chorus. The size of our women’s and men’s choruses has a bearing on a number of things in working out the details of staging the show including blocking, choreography, and costuming. When you reply please cc John Dreslin (email@example.com) and Spencer Reese (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The roles of Tipseion, Preposteros, Stupidas, and Cymon do not have any solo singing. However they do have important speaking parts. If you are a chorus member interested in trying out for one of these roles you must audition. If you have sung with us before you will not have to sing at auditions to try out for one of these parts. But we will want you to do a reading.
Rehearsals are held Sunday evenings 6-9PM at Congregation Adath Israel, Middletown, CT. Our first rehearsal will be Sunday, June 23.
The show will be performed at the Middletown High School Performing Arts Center, Saturday, October 12th at 2PM and 7:30PM and Sunday, October 13th at 2PM.
