A Chorus Line Auditions

LCT will be holding auditions for A CHORUS LINE on December 17th and December 18th in the Arts Center Theatre located on Level 2 of the Thomaston Opera House beginning promptly at 7:00 pm. Callbacks will be held on Thursday, December 20th at 7:00 pm. Roxie Quinn will direct & choreograph the show, with music direction by John Dressel. The show dates are March 30, 31, April 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14 for a total of 8 performances.  Rehearsals will begin on January 3rd and continue to be held three times a week from 7 pm-10 pm. Rehearsal days are scheduled for Sunday, Monday, and Thursday evenings. In case of inclement weather and cancelled rehearsals, please expect to have rescheduled times.

Auditioners will participate in a group choreography audition promptly at 7pm, and will then be asked to sing individually. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to fill out paperwork. Latecomers will be seen as time allows after group choreography and individual vocal auditions. Please wear appropriate dance attire and footwear. Sneakers will not be allowed. Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to sing 32 bars (about a minute) of a fully memorized musical theater song showcasing the style and vocal range of the character(s) for which they are auditioning. Songs from A CHORUS LINE are allowed. Additional vocalizing may also be a part of the audition to determine vocal range and harmonizing skills. An accompanist will be provided; no recorded accompaniment is permitted. Minimum age to audition is 16 years old

Plot Summary: Zach is a successful director looking for 8 dancers, 4 men and 4 females, to perform in the chorus line for his new production. After making initial cuts, he is left with 17 dancers of varying degrees of experience. He puts the remaining candidates through a rigorous audition process, asking them to speak on the events that have shaped their lives and what inspired them to dance. A classic Broadway musical that touches on the experiences of the unsung heroes of musical theater; the chorus line. 

Character Breakdown: There are 17 dancers – 9 women and 8 men with varying degrees of dance and song. 7-10 cut dancers which are in the opening number and then become pit singers and stage crew. Please see our website for a more detailed breakdown.
