The Cheshire Parks and Rec is excited to announce that they are expanding their current summer musical theatre camp into a fully student produced musical this summer! Campers will meet every day from Monday – Friday 9am to 4 pm for two weeks during which time they will work towards two performances of an MTI Jr show. The campers will be involved in every aspect of production from making their own costumes, props and sets under the guidance of an art instructor to acting, singing and dancing. Camp as well as performances will take place at Artsplace (1220 Waterbury Rd, Cheshire, CT). Camp will run for two weeks from 8/4 – 8/15. Performances will be Friday 8/15 at 6 pm and Saturday 8/16 at 2 pm. Campers must be entering 2nd grade – entering 8th grade for Fall 2014.
We are looking for a Director, Musical Director, Choreographer and Art Director to be a part of our team. We are also looking to hire 3 counselors to not only work with the campers but serve as stage managers and producers. We are looking for this to be an educational experience for all of our participants. We want them to come away with a better understanding of the entire theatrical production process and not just learning songs and dances. We believe in a process driven environment and want the campers to take ownership of their work and the production itself.
We are looking for fun, knowledgable individuals with teaching and/or productions working with children in their various disciplines. You must be willing to collaborate and work as part of a team. We do not provide housing so applicants must either be local or have local housing for the two weeks. The professional staff is paid via stipend at the end of the two weeks. Counselors are paid an hourly rate. Compensation is very competitive.
If you are interested in applying please submit a cover letter, resume and 3 professional references via e-mail to Kristy Chambrelli, Performing Arts Coordinator firstname.lastname@example.org no later than February 24th. Qualified applicants will be contacted in early March regarding interviews. Please do not mail materials to the Park and Rec. Only electronic submissions will be permitted.
