Preparation for a production of William Shakespeare’s teen tragedy, Romeo and Juliet, begins at New Britain Youth Theater in November. Set in 1967 to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the “Summer of Love,” the play will be performed outdoors at the New Britain Museum of American Art in June 2017.

New Britain Youth Theater has announced classes and auditions for its fifth season. Children and teens ages five an up can study acting, improv, or musical theater on Saturday mornings at the new NBYT location at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA. Children ages five through fourteen can audition for either Rumpelstiltskin or A Charlie Brown Christmas and Frosty the Snowman. Teen auditions for a musical, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, will be held later in the fall.

New Britain Youth Theater will audition actors ages 18 and older for an original play for young audiences, The Cinderella Project, on Monday, July 14, and Tuesday, July 15, at 6:00 p.m. or by appointment at NBYT at the New Britain-Berlin YMCA at 50 High Street in New Britain.
