Community Theatre at Woodbury (CTAW) Announces: An Open Casting Call

”ON GOLDEN POND” by Ernest Thompson

Kathy Farrell, Director

Friday, July 7, 4-8pm; Saturday, July 8, 10am-2pm

Call-backs, if needed, Sunday, July 9, 10am-2pm

Woodbury Parks and Rec House, 7 Mountain Road, Woodbury, CT

“On Golden Pond,” by Ernest Thompson, takes place in Norman and Ethel Thayer’s summer home on Golden Pond in Maine.  As they open the house for the season, Norman and Ethel will soon be joined by their adult daughter, Chelsea, her boyfriend, Bill Ray, and his surly teenaged son, Billy.  “On Golden Pond” is a sometimes difficult, sometimes funny, story of one family’s dysfunction as each member of this multi-generational clan struggles to find their way through age, rage, regret, love withheld, love unspoken, disappointment and, hopefully, forgiveness and acceptance.   All roles are available.

Norman
Thayer, Jr. – Male, Late 70’s/Early 80’s. Retired college professor.  Cantankerous with an acerbic sense of humor.

Ethel
Thayer – Female, Mid- 70’s/Early 80’s. Intelligent, upbeat and energetic.  Wife to Norman.  She understands him best.

Chelsea
Thayer Wayne – Female, 40’s/50’s – Norman and Ethel’s daughter.  A capable woman except when it comes to her relationship with Norman.

Bill
Ray – Male, 40’s/50’s – Chelsea’s boyfriend.  A successful dentist and decent guy.

Billy Ray – Male, early-mid teens – Bill’s surly son.  Always testing boundaries.  A good kid mired in teenage angst.

Charlie
Martin – Male, 40’s/50’s – local mailman and childhood friend of Chelsea’s.  Has lived on Golden Pond in Maine his entire life.  Has always had an unrequited crush on Chelsea.

Performances will be October 20-22 and 27-29. Visit www.ctaw-ct.org for complete details or call Woodbury Parks and Rec at (203) 263-3113.

Woodbury, Connecticut and its neighboring towns are saturated with history and charm. Our area’s unique combination of bucolic surroundings and unpretentious chic is the perfect setting for inspiring the arts and providing an environment for local performers and artists to showcase their skills. The Community Theatre at Woodbury (CTAW) was formed in 2013 in response to the community’s expressed desire for quality live theatre. CTAW‘s mission is to involve local folks and businesses in providing and promoting quality entertainment and community service through the theatre arts, including children’s theatre. With a nod from the town’s leaders, CTAW, which is a non-profit, self-supporting program of the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department and is run entirely by volunteers, was offered a home in one of Woodbury’s most distinguished buildings: the Historic Town Hall at 5 Mountain Road, Woodbury, Connecticut. Our desire is to involve as many people within our communities ... Read Full
