MURDER IS OUR BUSINESS
Family and friends have long told the audacious Donald Rondini that he should audition for “AspenDream Productions” the off-Broadway company that has performed in over 72 cities in New England for the past 20 years and performed for over 15,000 guests. But he was too busy with other things. Rondini never really considered a career in acting. He was thinking of retirement and all the fun it would bring. But one weekend he decided he would take a gamble and tryout. It changed his life.
The 60-something Branford resident traveled to Harwinton, Connecticut where he joined actors and singers from all over Connecticut who wanted to audition for a spot in the continually sold-out interactive comedy wedding and murder mystery shows.
In the past, Rondini learned of regional “AspenDream Productions” auditions too late. This time, when Rondini spotted the auditions he made up his mind and made arrangements to go. “I really wanted the lead character of the head mob guy, Uncle Franco, but everyone wanted that role. They told me they would consider me for Father O’Flasky, a comedic type,” Rondini said. “The producer said they liked my Irish accent but they didn’t think I had enough experience to do the leading character.” Now it is 14 years later and I am still with AspenDream Productions. In an interesting twist of fate, I eventually got the role of Uncle Franco.” The moral of the story – not only did Donald Rondini eventually get his dream role but he became a massive hit throughout New England for his unique and hilarious portrayal of this Archie Bunker-type mob character. His gamble paid off and his retirement is more than fun.
“At this point, “I don’t think there’s anyone better than Don Rondini for the lead role but now we are looking for a second cast”, said Janice Luise-Lutkus Producer of AspenDream Productions.
